1. Introduction
Please carefully read and understand these Terms of Account and Recovery Password Recovery Service (the “ Terms ”) before recovering your account and password using the Account and Password Recovery Service ("the Service ").
By using the Service, you are deemed to have read and accepted these Terms, which form part of and are incorporated into the WeChat Terms of Service (if you are a WeChat user) (“WeChat Terms ”) or the Agreement on Software License and Service of Tencent Weixin (if you are a Weixin user) (“Weixin
Terms ”). A reference to “we”, “us” or “our” in these Terms has the same meaning as ascribed to them in the
WeChat Terms or Weixin Terms, as the case may be.
If you are a minor, please read these Terms together with your parent or legally appointed guardian, and pay special attention to the terms and conditions for use by minors; you may use the Service only if your parent or legally appointed guardian agrees to these Terms.
2. Account and Password Recovery Procedure
2.1 If you are unable to log in to your account for the following reasons, you may use the account and password recovery system (the “ System ”) to recover your account and password using the Service:
(1) The mobile phone number originally linked to your account has been repossessed or assigned to another person by the relevant mobile network operator; or
(2) There has been any unauthorised access to or use of your login password or SMS verification code by a third-party.
2.2 Navigate to the System, and enter the required information, including but not limited to the account username to be recovered, previously linked mobile phone number, personal identification information, contact information and/or information about your friends.
2.3 Please make sure that the information and documents you provide when using this Service are true, complete, accurate, up to date, legitimate and valid.
2.4 After receiving your request, the System will automatically compare the information you have submitted with the information stored in the System, and determine whether to approve or reject your request based on the results of such comparison.
2.5 We may, in our sole discretion, determine whether to conduct a manual review of your account and password recovery request in the case of any dispute relating thereto. Subject always to applicable laws, we have the right to request you to provide evidence of registration and use of your account, including but not limited to proof of identity and other supporting documents provided by yourself and your friends. Failure to provide such evidence will be deemed a waiver of your claims to the account being recovered.
2.6 After submitting a request to use the Service, a multi-digit ticket number will be generated by the System in respect of your request. Please record down the ticket number, which is required for you to check the progress and result of your request.
2.7 Generally, the System will notify you of the result within 24 hours upon the acceptance of your request for account and password recovery. We reserve the right to extend the review period in case of any dispute or
complications in relation to such request.
2.8 You will be notified of the result of your account and password recovery request via SMS or other modes of communication as we may deem appropriate. However, please note that there may be cases of delays or non-receipt due to factors such as network latency, the quality of the mobile operator's telecommunications
services, and your geographical location. If this is the case, you may log in to the website specified by us to check the result with the relevant ticket number.
2.9 We do not guarantee that you can successfully recover your account using this Service. If you successfully recover your account and password, you may reset your account information and password, and restore your contacts as prompted. If you fail to recover your account and password, you may submit the account and password recovery request again along with more complete supporting evidence.
2.10 After you recover your account and password, please remember your account ID and password. We also recommend that you take appropriate measures to protect your device, which may include running a virus or
malware scan. Please keep your account password confidential and do not disclose it to any third-party.
3. Use of the Service
3.1 You represent and warrant that the information you provide to us when using the Service is true, complete, accurate, up to date, legitimate and valid, as such information is crucial for the recovery of your
account using the Service. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable laws, you shall be solely responsible for any consequences or losses arising from the provision of misleading, incomplete or false information, or disclosure of your account registration information to any third-party, including but not limited to the inability to recover your account, loss of tangible and intangible property, in-app purchases, and other value-added service products associated with your account, as well as loss of or unauthorised access to any information contained within your account.
3.2 You acknowledge and agree that the System may be used by any user to recover any account and the associated password. Accordingly, to safeguard your own account, you are responsible for taking appropriate and effective measures to ensure the security of your account and prevent unauthorized access to your account information. You agree that you shall only use the Service in connection with the account you have registered and are authorized to use, and that you shall not use the Service to recover any other user's account or any transferred account.
3.3 You shall not use the Service in connection with a deleted account, an account which has been blocked or suspended by us due to it being the subject of any investigation by any law enforcement agency, any criminal or civil legal proceedings or any other serious dispute, or an account that has been blocked, suspended or terminated by us due to violation of any applicable laws and regulations, these Terms, or other relevant terms, including but not limited to the WeChat Terms or Weixin Terms (as applicable). We shall have sole discretion to determine whether to process a request to use the Service.
4. Liabilities and Disclaimers
4.1 In order to enhance user experience and improve the quality of the Service, we reserve the right to modify the Service and any functions and rules of the Service at any time without further notice.
4.2 If you are or are suspected to be in violation of any applicable laws and regulations, these Terms, or other relevant terms, including but not limited to the WeChat Terms or Weixin Terms (as applicable), we shall have the right, at our sole discretion, to restrict your use of the Service or to terminate the provision of the Service to you at any time. You shall be solely responsible for any loss or claims by any third-party which arises directly or indirectly as a result of the foregoing (including but not limited to a failed request for the recovery of your account and password, or loss of data or property such as user data, emails, or in-app items).
5. Miscellaneous Provisions
5.1 By using the Service, you have read and agree to be bound by these Terms. We have the right, in our sole discretion, to amend these Terms from time to time. By continuing to use the Service following such changes, you agree to be bound by the amended version of these Terms.
5.2 These Terms form part of and are incorporated by reference into the WeChat Terms (if you are a WeChat user) or Weixin Terms (if you are a Weixin user). By agreeing to these Terms, you are also agreeing to be bound by the WeChat Terms or the Weixin Terms, as the case may be.
5.3 The relevant provisions relating to governing law and dispute resolution under the WeChat Terms or the Weixin Terms, as the case may be, shall apply with the necessary changes to these Terms.
5.4 If any provision of these Terms is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, void or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect and shall in no way be affected, impaired or invalidated.
